The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the accurate and efficient administration of employee benefit programs across the U.S. and Canada, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role will also involve conducting data analysis to assess the effectiveness and competitiveness of the organization's benefit offerings. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical skill set and experience with benefits modeling and reporting.
A day in the life of the Benefits Specialist…
Administer benefit programs and serve as the point of contact for Tier 2 benefits support, ensuring smooth, accurate delivery of benefitsEnsure benefit eligibility, elections, contributions, and payroll deductions are processed in a timely and precise manner
Audit benefit data and processes regularly to ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant federal, state, and provincial regulations (e.g., ACA, ERISA)
Perform detailed data modeling and cost analysis to support informed decision-making on health, welfare, and retirement plans
Participate in and conduct benchmarking analysis by engaging in industry surveys to maintain competitive benefits packages
Manage 401(k) plan administration, including annual audits, reporting, and communication with the retirement plan provider
Oversee benefits-related billing processes, including reconciliation and submission to finance, to maintain accuracy and accountability
Assist in coordinating open enrollment, developing and updating communications to effectively educate employees on benefits options and changes
Partner with internal teams to design, review, and update benefits policies and ensure timely dissemination of benefits information
What you’ll bring to the table…
Experience in data analysis and advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, v-lookup, data modeling)
Familiarity with HRIS and/or benefits modules (e.g., Workday) for benefits administration and reporting
Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret and apply complex data insights to business needs
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with HR, finance, and external vendors
Ability to present benefits information clearly to employees and stakeholders at all levels
Self-motivation and ability to work independently and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

The ability to work 4 days/week from our Corporate Office in Northbrook, IL
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of experience in benefits administration or analysis; proficiency in Excel
Experience with employee benefits administration platforms; proficiency in HRIS/Workday is a plus
